Hey everyone, Allyssa here. I wanted to share a big milestone in my sober journey. Celebrating moments like this truly feels better than a birthday!

I remember where I was on day one. Sobriety is such a spectrum, and when people hear someone doesn’t drink, they often ask, “Did you have a problem?” The truth is, everyone’s story is different. For me, I just loved going out and socializing. I was super extroverted, had no kids, no pets, and no responsibilities outside of work. I didn’t have much routine or balance. I just wanted to go out every night, and eventually that led to a lot of hangovers, poor health, and honestly not feeling very happy.

After one last night of drinking, I went home, prayed to God, and made a decision. I told myself I would wake up the next day and not drink. At first, I only committed to one year. But after about 100 days, I never looked back. I felt too good. I was thriving and learning to love myself again.

One of the biggest things that helped me stay on this path was finding an outlet, and for me that became CrossFit. It gave me something to look forward to every day and helped me rediscover the competitive athlete I had been my whole life. The workouts are tough, and rebuilding my body and health didn’t happen overnight. But CrossFit gave me a community, a healthy challenge, and a place to grow stronger both mentally and physically.

Because of this journey, my relationships are stronger, I’m closer with my family, and I’ve learned how to face stress instead of masking it. I’m proud of the person I’m becoming and excited for what’s ahead.

Here’s to four digits.

And if anyone reading this is sober curious or struggling with their own relationship with alcohol, please reach out. You’re not alone. If you’ve ever thought about making a change, I’d love to hear your story too.
