Union Fairgrounds Brings Maine’s Trail of Terror Back for Two Weekends
We're lucky here in Maine to have no shortage of experiences to have during the spooky Halloween season. And now we're learning of another one here in Central Maine this is promising to be one of the spookiest around!
According to WGME 13, the Union Fairgrounds are preparing for chills and thrills as the annual Trail of Terror returns, promising to be the scariest yet.
For two weekends in a row, the fairgrounds will be transformed into a haunted spectacle full of creepy sets, spooky lighting, and dozens of volunteer scare actors ready to give visitors a fright. From cobweb-filled corners to dark, twisting trails, every detail has been painstakingly crafted by volunteers who have spent weeks preparing for the event.
“This is a labor of love,” said Andrew Jura, with the Friends of Union Fair Society. “Everything from lights and PA systems to painting and basic maintenance goes back into the fairgrounds. Every dollar raised helps keep this place running year-round.”
While the event is designed to thrill, organizers caution that it’s not intended for young children—and even some adults might find it a bit much.
Anthony Collins, secretary of the Friends of Union Fair Society, told WGME 13, “It’s creepy, it’s disturbing, and it’s PG-13. We’re here to scare people. We can’t touch, but I’ve had grown men literally run away from me.”
For brave souls who enjoy a good scare, the Trail of Terror offers two haunted trails for visitors to explore. Tickets are $15 and include three entries across both trails, giving everyone plenty of chances to test their courage.
The haunted trails will be open Friday and Saturday nights from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. For those who love a good fright and want to support the local fairgrounds, this is one Halloween tradition you won’t want to miss.
