As the week rolls on and we enjoy every ride, food truck, band and event that the annual Windsor Fair has to offer, I'm left with my thoughts on the people who really make the event run smoothly for all attendees.

The majority of the people on my mind are rarely seen, but their contributions are vital to the fair's success.

Sure, when you come to the fair you see the hardworking gate attendants, the vendors and their staff, security and fair personnel and the ride operators. However, in case you didn't know, there are lots of crucial people performing roles that often go unnoticed.

Lizzy and I get here pretty early in the morning, in fact, we're here SEVERAL hours before the gates even open. When we arrive, the sun is barely up, the rides sit idle and the food vendors are all empty and closed up.

However, the fairground is still alive with activity. Early in the morning, there's a crew of people scrambling to empty overflowing garbage and recycling cans from the day before. There are Pepsi employees rushing to restock all of the food trucks with ice-cold soda and water.

One of the things you hear us talk a lot about is the streetsweeper that comes in every morning at 6 a.m. to clean all of the roadways and walkways and make sure that everything is all swept up for the day ahead.

So to all of you, and I'm sure plenty more I haven't seen, that go unnoticed by the vast majority of fairgoers, thank you for everything you do to keep the Windsor Fair running smoothly all week long.

I, and everyone else that attends, appreciate you!
