I used to love the idea of comic books.

I really did. So badly, I wanted to get into them. But for whatever reason, it just never quite took. I bought several different ones in junior high and the beginning of high school, but never kept up with it. I have friends who have huge, very valuable, collections. Mine have all gone the way of the cat box, unfortunately.

Coming up the weekend of November 8th - 10th, Houlton will be hosting its first-ever Comic-Con. Much like other conventions, this one will have all the bells and whistles you're used to seeing. There will be gaming, workshops, discussion panels, authors, and a ton of other activities throughout the whole weekend.

Friday will feature all kinds of gaming. Everything from Dungeons & Dragons to Cards Against Humanity. Saturday will even feature a presentation from a psychologist, who will discuss how D&D is actually a useful therapy/educational tool. On Sunday, people will even be able to meet up at the Houlton Bridge for a Star Wars battle!

You'll definitely want advance tickets.

If there's only one drawback to this event, is that space will be limited. The location can only hold up to 150 people. People are definitely urged to get tickets ahead of time. Of course, there will also be food and other amenities on site, according to TheCounty.me. Tickets will range from $5 to $25, depending on what package you choose.

Why should all the big city slickers have all the fun? It's a fantastic plan that's already drawing the attention of other nearby towns. The folks from the Northern Maine Fair in Presque Isle have shown interest in hosting an event there too. Organizers will definitely be watching how this goes, to determine future events.
