Maine families, if you are in search for the an epic event to put you and your crew in the holiday spirit, you have to journey to Boothbay Lights in Boothbay Harbor this weekend.

The entire town is literally dipped in the magic of Christmas.

All happening December 6th from 2:00p-7:00pm, as per Boothbay Harbor.

The entire town transforms into a whimsical, glowing wonderland every season. But nothing lights up more then the legendary Parade of Lights.

This is like the centerpiece of the snow globe that is Boothbay Harbor.

The event will not disappoint and always brings families back, year after year. So, whether you are returning to experience the magic once again, or feeling the wonder for the very first time, get ready because this year is better than ever.

Holly Stover, State Representative of Boothbay Region and Lisa Walby, Executive Director of Boothbay Region Chamber of Commerce filled us in on the wonders of this weekend.

Let me paint the picture for you: the moon is casting it's glow on the water as the boats of every size and shape fill the marina, drifting across the harbor, wrapped from bow to stern in twinkling holiday lights. You'll hear echoes' of "oohs" and "awes" while you sip your cocoa.

The boats decorated by residents and local businesses will shimmer across the water, the colors moving with the tide, almost hypnotizing your very eyes. The themes range from massively spectacular to downright adorable.

Families gather at the harbor early to welcome Santa and his elves who drift up to the harbor via boat. Yes, Santa is also a sea captain. He wears many hats.

Bring your kids to the Meet & Greet with Santa at the Pot Buoy Tree from 2:30pm - 4:00pm!

Then, there will be caroling and the community tree lighting at 4:45pm. At 6:30pm will be Our Lady Queen of Peace offering a live nativity, singing carols and serving cocoa and cookies.

Oh, and that’s not all, we haven’t even hit the sparkle of the evening. You will end the night with the incredible fireworks over Boothbay Harbor.

The best spots to grab for viewing are at The Whale ParkFisherman’s Memorial, Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, and the 1901 Footbridge!
