Maine Cabin Masters Gives a Fun Lesson in Local Pronunciations
An Instagram post recently went up on the Maine Cabin Masters Instagram page with the stars of the show doing their best demonstrations of how to pronounce nine different words that have to do with Maine. If you're not a Mainer, it's time to take you to school.
Maine Cabin Masters launched on January 2, 2017, on DIY Network, now known as Magnolia Network, and it follows contractor Chase Morrill, his sister-designer Ashley Morrill, and her husband Ryan Eldridge, along with carpenters Matt “Dixie” Dix and Jared “Jedi” Baker, as they renovate old camps across Maine.
Projects often involve rundown family cabins, and the crew works under a budget and deadline, modernizing while preserving rustic charm, sometimes adding solar panels or composting toilets. Yeah. You read that right. Composting toilets. That's a double dirty job.
Over time, Maine Cabin Masters became DIY Network’s highest-rated show, eventually transitioning to Magnolia Network, which many of us have never heard of.
This video was posted on the Maine Cabin Masters Instagram page on November 17 and has the cast of the show demonstrating how 9 different words associated with Maine are pronounced.
Everyone in this video seemed to have their own take on how to pronounce these words, ranging from "Have you really lived in Maine all your life?" to "You were born near the mudflats, weren't ya bub?"
Maine Cabin Masters can be seen regularly on just about any streaming service you have, including Hulu, HBO Max, and for free on the Roku app.
