Maine’s Doctor Gillis: The One New Year’s Resolution You Will Stick With
Your New Year’s resolution doesn’t have to be hard, it should be as simple as deciding to see “The Good Doc. G," Let me tell you why..
I also want to say upfront: I’ve never been a fan of before-and-after photos when it comes to weight loss. What matters more to me is showing you who how I feel, how strong I've become thanks to an incredible doctor, right here in Maine.
When I was first introduced to Dr. Gillis at his Wellness Center at 8 Water Street in Oakland over two years ago, I honestly had no idea how much it would truly impact my life and my heart.
Like so many of you, my end-game wasn’t just to lose weight, it was to live longer, feel stronger, and stay healthy for my family. I am now freshly 40 years old and I can say without a doubt, that going to Doctor Gillis, did just that.
How I lost Over 40 Pounds with Doctor Gillis' Wellness Center in Maine
I’m a very proud mom and suddenly it hit me that my health felt more important than ever.
My weight would often fluctuate and I couldn’t seem to control it. I couldn’t deal with the low energy or the possibility of future medical issues, lurking around the corner.
The entire team is like family and they treat you as such.
In the 40 minutes in which Doctor Gillis consulted me, I learned more about my body, gut health, and metabolism than I ever had in past years of traditional doctor visits.
What really stood out right away was how much time he took to explain it all to me. I finally understood how the tools he was offering could help my body and mind get to where it needed to be.

Most importantly, he introduced me to the power of GLP-1s and how it would support my body in getting to my goal. Most of us have heard about GLP-1s but what was important for me was having the correct fit to help guide me through it and for the first time in a medical situation, I felt heard- not rushed or judged, just heard.
Using GLP-1s as a tool, with better eating habits, exercise, and overall wellness support, I was able to lose over 40 pounds, affordably!
The best part is that I kept it off and am still maintaining my goal weight of 135 pounds.
This wasn’t about a quick fix, it was about learning how to work with my body, and not against it, and the Doc gave me the tools and support to do just that.
There are plenty of great spots with caring people who want to help, but the Wellness Center in Oakland is my choice, not just because Dr. Gillis has over 100 five-star Google reviews, holds privileges at local hospitals, sits on the State Medical Board, and has been deeply involved in our community for more than two decades, but because of the genuine care and trust he brought to me and everyone he comes in contact with.
Beyond the Good Doc are the people who make up his team and further explain why this place should also be your favorite.
Pictured below are some of the faces who will welcome you when you walk in, pictured left to right, Norah Davidson (office tech), Jaimee Shaw (office manager) Jennifer Brann (office tech).
Doctor Gillis has a very high doctor to doctor referral which shows you the trust other professionals have in him and that makes me feel comfortable.
Pro tip: when you want to choose a wellness provider you must ask questions. How long have they been in practice? Ask to see their certificates. Take control of your own body and healthcare plan!
