Maine is now officially on the map for cheese, and not just one wicked good cheese wheel, but three award-winning cheese that are being celebrated and awarded on the international stage, according to the Portland Press Herald.
Many of us didn’t realize that there was a World Cheese Awards, but alas, there is and Maine has stepped up in a big way. Our creameries have brought home medals in the most competitive of categories.
According to GFF, Crooked Face Creamery in Skowhegan absolutely stole the show, taking home a coveted Super Gold medal for their Plain Whole Milk Ricotta.
This was one of the highest honors in the competition.
Cheese has now leveled up to Beyoncé status.
Maine Cheesemakers Take the Global Stage
The awards didn’t stop there either, Crooked Face Creameries Applewood-Smoked Ricotta took home bronze medal. This proves that Crooked Face is definitely doing something right in the cheese world.

Lakin’s Gorges Cheese earned a Silver medal for Opus 42, it’s their epic aged, cheese that is popular for it’s balanced flavor.
And over in Whiting, Maine is Josh Pond Far making waves bringing home a bronze medal with there Meddybemps. It’s like the kind of cheese that goes splendidly with a crisp apple or crunchy bread.
This is a yummy cheesy win for Maine creameries.
