My hunt for restaurants that made you feel like you were stepping back in time all started with my visit to DaVinci's in Lewiston.

What makes a restaurant feel like the good ol' days?

It's not just about the food, it's about the experience. When I went to DaVinci's in Lewiston, Maine I checked all the boxes that are rare these days when dining out. I could hear my friend's conversation during dinner. The table was big enough so that we all had plenty of room for all the food, and I didn't feel cramped. The service was impeccable, and the food was delicious. And the garlic knots were free! The Cobb salad is a must! Last, but not least, it was amazingly affordable! Not one item on the menu made me shriek because of the price. Plus, you get plenty of food! There were leftovers!

What Maine restaurant makes you feel like you've stepped back in time?

I started wondering where else in Maine can you go for a great dining experience. I'm not discounting all the great fancy places Maine has. Maine is filled with James Bear nominees and winners. Those dining experiences are one thing, but I'm talking about a place that makes you forget about how crazy the current world is.
