
It’s National Pie Day and This Maine Bakery is Celebrating
It's not Pi Day, but it's actual Pie Day today and Mainers want pie!
I know you've heard of Pi Day on March 14, (3.14) but Pie Day seems way more fun. Pie Day is January 23, and it's sponsored by the American Pie Council (yes, that’s a real thing). According to National Today,
National Pie Day lets us enjoy one of our favorite desserts guilt-free. After all, we’re celebrating a national holiday!
Two Fat Cats Bakery in Portland, Maine is celebrating National Pie Day
If you have a favorite pie (mine is blueberry) you can head to Two Fat Cats in Portland on Lancaster Street and their new location on Spring Street for a great deal. They will have a lot of different limited-time flavors & a tasting trio for $9.95!

Why is there a National Pie Day
This is when things get weird. It was invented in the 70s by Charles N. Papazian. According to Wikipedia, he was an American nuclear engineer, brewer, and author who founded the Association of Brewers and the Great American Beer Festival and wrote The Complete Joy of Home Brewing in the 80s. Plus, he created National Pie Day on his birthday!
Whether your pie is apple or lemon meringue, give yourself permission today to have a slice...or two. Oh and just so you have this fun fact in your head all day, apple is the most popular pie. That is until Thanksgiving rolls around then pumpkin pie dominates everyone's plate!
