Portland Raises Winter Parking Fines Just in Time For Snow
It’s that magical time again when many Maine residents receive those annoying bright colored notices, either in the mail, on their vehicle or stapled to their foreheads.
I’m talking about those fun winter parking ban flyers. The fluorescent ones that say, “Welcome to Maine, now give us $130”. Okay, it doesn’t exactly say that but it feels that way, right?
If you’ve seen one, you are officially part of the season.
But this year, Portland wants to make winter more fun by increasing the fines during the parking ban.
Portland’s Winter Parking Bans Are Here—And the Fines Just Got Spicier
According to Portland Maine, your fine has now gone up to $130 and that does not include towing, which will still absolutely happen.
And because this wouldn’t be winter in Maine without a plot twist to keep life spicy, the city has officially announced they no longer had their own impound lot. Nope!
So now, your vehicle will be whisked away to a private towing lot.
It’s the surprise you never asked for but got anyway. The flyer also states that there are six new snow-ban parking spots.
Parking bans run from 10pm-6am and no one likes to set there alarm for 1am and panic-run to move your car in your jammies and boots that don’t match.
So, do yourself a favor and prepare for the parking bans however you can.
