
What’s Replacing Dizzy Birds Restaurant in Biddeford, Maine
About one year ago, residents and regular visitors to Biddeford, Maine, were shocked to learn that one of the most popular restaurants in the city was planning to close permanently.
According to News Center Maine, Dizzy Birds initial closure stemmed from a change in habits from customers. Dizzy Birds featured a large dining room that was largely unoccupied.
The restaurant remained busy but through delivery orders from expensive services that marginalized profit.
Dizzy Birds attempted to reopen as a take out/delivery restaurant exclusively earlier this year before finally calling it quits in June.
But the space left behind by Dizzy Birds Rotisserie on Main Street in Biddeford won't remain empty for much longer.
New Japanese Restaurant Set to Replace Dizzy Birds in Biddeford, Maine
Gone are the days of tasty rotisserie chicken and plentiful homestyle sides. According to Portland Food Map, in its place will be sushi, poke bowls and hibachi.
That's because Ichiban Japanese restaurant is slated to take over the space at 65 Main Street in Biddeford left behind by Dizzy Birds.
Renovations on the new restaurant are happening now with a hope to have a grand opening for Ichiban Japanese sometime in February of 2026.
Biddeford, Maine, Continues to Be a Hotspot For New Restaurants
While Portland continues to control the spotlight, Biddeford has seen several openings in the last couple of years.
Some of those openings include Rift Arcade, a retro-style bar arcade. Part and Parcel, a market and sandwich shop located on Alfred Street as well as a Brickyard Hollow location that opened in June of 2024.
