Mast Landing Brewing Closing One of Their Maine Taprooms
There are several craft breweries throughout Maine that well-known and highly regarded. In some cases, it's because of the experience of visiting a taproom. For others, it's the signature beers that they produce.
But even name recognition and quality of product aren't enough to keep some breweries from facing some financial hardship.
According to the New York Times, craft beer sales dropped 4% in 2024 with many breweries across the country reporting lower customer volume. Some of that is blamed on inflation and the price of product. Part of it is a shifting of appetite towards hard seltzers and other products.
The squeeze in the craft beer industry continues to be felt in Maine. And that includes one of its most prominent names planning to downsize their taproom operations.
