If you've visited Freeport, Maine, in the last few years, you've noticed a lot of changes. The town is currently evolving from a hub of outlet shopping to more of a mixed destination for shopping, dining, and experiences.

Soon, one notable location will be getting a brand new restaurant.
Me Lon Togo Plans Move From Rockland to Freeport, Maine
For the last few years, a restaurant serving West African cuisine has made waves in Rockland, Maine. Owned and operated by a former music professor at Colby College, the four-course meals at Me Lon Togo became the talk of the town.
But as with so many restaurants in the midcoast, Me Lon Togo ran into an issue. That issue was getting customers through the door.
A mix between the specialty cuisine and price point left Me Lon Togo feeling like a seasonal restaurant. According to Portland Food Map, that is about to change.
Me Lon Togo is Planning a Major Move to Freeport, Maine
After several successful years serving summertime crowds in Rockland, Me Lon Togo is planning a move to 58 Main Street in Freeport in hopes of becoming a year-round culinary destination.
58 Main Street is the current location of Vineyard Vines, with the first and second floors housing the retail store. Vineyard Vines won't be closing, but rather, Me Lon Togo will be going in on the lower level of the building.
The move to Freeport is going to come in phases as Me Lon Togo gets off the ground. Initially, the restaurant will serve light bites and cocktails as the transition to fully functional restaurant takes place.
The new Freeport eatery also plans to have exterior dining, with dinner music on the patio.
Be sure to stay tuned for an opening date in the future!
Correction: An earlier version of this story said that Vineyard Vines would be replaced by Me Lon Togo. Vineyard Vines is not closing, and Me Lon Togo will, in fact, be going in the lower level of the building at 58 Main Street in Freeport.
