There's something to be said for a restaurant in demand. When a place is always busy and difficult to find a seat at, there's a part of that exclusivity that feels like a victory when you're able to make a reservation.

There's a handful of culinary of hotspots that are home to restaurants where being booked is a thing. There are places in Kennebunkport that fit that mold. There's a few places in Bar Harbor that are a challenge to get into as well. And of course, there's Portland.

According to Open Table, the 'most-booked' restaurant in all of Maine is Scales restaurant on the waterfront in Portland. Scales has a lot going for it including it's tremendous location and the fact that it is surrounded by a flurry of other terrific restaurants, bars and shops.

Inside of scales, it does feel like a major Boston or New York City restaurant that has been plopped down in the middle of Portland's Old Port. High-end seafood dishes are the name of the game at Scales. With so many tourists visiting Portland for seafood, it makes sense the restaurant has become the 'most-booked' in the state.

But Scales isn't the only Portland restaurant that is in high-demand. Street and Co, Fore Street as well as Solo Italiano are all some of the most-booked restaurants in Maine.

But what may come as a larger surprise is that there are more in-demand restaurants in Bar Harbor than Portland according to Open Table. Five of the most-booked restaurants in the state exist in Bar Harbor. Check out the full list right here.
