When it comes to visiting cities across America, it can be pretty easy to get overwhelmed when you arrive. Most popular tourism destinations are larger places with plenty of neighborhoods and attractions to explore.

LoveEXPLORING recently decided to narrow the scope a little. They scoured the nation in hopes of landing on the 30 coolest neighborhoods in the entire country. They're cool because of the architecture, experiences, and how vibrant they feel.

According to loveEXPLORING, one of the 30 coolest neighborhoods in America happens to be right here in Maine. It's Portland's Old Port neighborhood, which has long been a popular destination for both locals and visitors.

Over the past decade, the Old Port has somehow gotten even more popular. New hotels, restaurants, and experiences have popped up in the bustling neighborhood. The construction isn't finished either, with new condo developments and more waterfront expansion still to come.

LoveEXPLORING was more enamored with the general charm of the Old Port. The cobblestone streets often wow visitors from afar, especially when paired with the brick buildings that line so many of the streets.

There's also the unique experiences. From duck boats to tours about Portland's historically devastating fire, you can easily spend a day immersed in the city's past. Plus, several different islands are only a ferry ride away for a chance at exploration off the coast of Portland.

Lastly, no trip to Portland is complete without consumption. Portland's Old Port has a litany of cool cafes, restaurants, and several trendy cocktail bars serving up truly unique libations.
