Smitty's Cinema in Windham, Maine, Temporarily Closing

There are some that believe going to the movies for a day out of the house has become obsolete.

There are others who believe getting out of the house for movies, bowling and other fun is about to have a reawakening.

Smitty's Cinema in Windham, Maine, clearly believes there's a future to people enjoying movies on the big screen while also looking for other reasons to hang out under one roof.

That's why the longtime theater plans to temporarily close in August to enhance what they can offer future customers.

Smitty's Cinema in Windham, Maine, Undergoing Renovations and Making Additions

Smitty's Cinema shared on social media that they would be closing their Windham, Maine, location temporarily in mid-August so they can do some substantial work.

That work will include adding a Qubica Neoverse 6-lane bowling alley. The Neoverse bowling lanes are impressive, with bright lights, big sound and lots of cool bells and whistles.

Smitty's will also be adding a state-of-the-art arcade that will feature 50 games to choose from. It will be similar to what you can experience at Smitty's other locations.

Smitty's in Windham, Maine, Will Also Add a Sports Lounge

When Smitty's had their first run in Windham, Maine, it was really still all about the movies.

When Smitty's reopened at the Windham Mall in 2013, it was all about the experience.

Smitty's plans to continue their evolution by adding a sports bar filled with big screen TVs to their Windham location. The lounge will also feature pool tables.

Smitty's promises to reopen sometime this fall with all their new improvements.
