People Frustrated By Knock Off Labubus Sold at Maine Mall Toy Cart
Perhaps you're not aware but there is another collectible craze bubbling to the surface across the United States. That craze surrounds fluffy toy figures created by a Hong Kong artist called Labubus and distributed by a company called Pop Mart.
Labubus have risen in popularity thanks to a number of factors including some celebrity endorsements. But what has really driven consumers is the scarcity of finding an authentic labubu and being able to showcase what you've managed to get your hands on.
A New Toy Cart Opens at the Maine Mall in South Portland Promising Labubus
It was likely an oversight by the social media team at the Maine Mall but a post was shared that highlighted the opening of a brand new cart called Toy Shop.
In that post, the Maine Mall proclaimed enthusiastic shoppers could grab themselves a labubu by visiting the new toy cart near the What the Actual Fudge store.
Instead, the Maine Mall's social media post inspired backlash from people who had visited the cart.
Customers Vent Frustration Over Maine Mall Toy Cart Selling 'Lafufus'
If you're not following the labubu craze closely, like any other fad collectible, there has been a few knock-offs hitting the market fast.
Those have been deemed 'lafufus' by collectors and come with some fairly obvious differences from original labubus. Those differences can be as obvious as the company distributing the product to the number of visible teeth on the fluffy, elf-like creature.
The comments section on the Maine Mall post was littered with people warning other consumers that the new toy cart was selling lafufus and not collectible labubus.
