Massachusetts’ Most Unusual Restaurant Experience is on a Farm in the Countryside
It's no secret that we have a loud and proud foodie population here in New England, and with good reason. Our restaurant industry is killing it, and there's never a shortage of new establishments opening their doors to the public. You can never run out of places to visit for your next dining experience, especially in Massachusetts.
When it comes to highlighting the best spots around, no one does a better job than LoveFood. From discussing the area's top restaurants to sharing recipes, news, commentaries, and more, LoveFood is a foodie's digital paradise.
The site recently shared a list of the most unusual dining experiences in each state, including Massachusetts. But what makes a restaurant "unusual"? According to LoveFood:
If you're after a joint that offers a sideshow with your supper or some quirky decor with your dessert, we've scoped out the places that should be on your radar – from a restaurant where diners can watch mermaids swim to spots inside old train carriages.
This writer automatically thought of a restaurant chain from days gone by: Bugaboo Creek (click here to read about the glory days of novel animatronics and talking Christmas trees). But there's another place considered by LoveFood to be the Bay State's most unusual restaurant, and it's on a scenic farm in the Groton countryside.
Gibbet Hill Grill in Groton, Massachusetts
Gibbet Hill Grill is a farm-to-table restaurant with an on-site produce farm, and a menu bursting with delicious cuisine. According to LoveFood, guests can feast on...
...appetizers including crab cakes, mushroom arancini, and fried cauliflower, followed by steak and a choice of two farm sides. The menu also features free-range chicken, lamb ragu, and seared tuna.
We're already salivating after looking at the dishes on the restaurant's official Facebook page. Here's their fried chicken sandwich with "gochujang glaze, carrot cucumber slaw, and kewpie mayo on a brioche bun"...
...a strawberry and goat cheese salad...
...and Scottish, organic salmon resting on a bed of "asparagus, wild rice, fresh chickpeas, romesco, and toasted almonds."
