Tripadvisor Praises 2 New England Restaurants as Top Hidden Gems in the US
It's no secret that we have a loud and proud foodie population here in New England, and with good reason.
Countless magazines, websites, and digital platforms have discussed our diverse and delicious food scene. Our restaurants have been featured on Yelp's 'Top 100 US Restaurants' list, the Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, and the New York Times' annual Restaurant List.
Sadly, many establishments tend to fly under the radar despite their scrumptious eats, wonderful atmospheres, and excellent service. But that's about to change for two lucky New England locations.
Last year, Tripadvisor shared a Traveler's Choice list of the Best of the Best Hidden Gem Restaurants nationwide, based on "a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from our community over a 12-month period." Under 1% of Tripadvisor's eight million listings received a spot on the prestigious list, which makes it all the more amazing that two New England restaurants were featured. Let's learn more about these places.
The Barn Bowl & Bistro in Oak Bluffs in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts
This bistro, bar, and bowling alley in the heart of Martha's Vineyard is the perfect place for vacationers and locals to enjoy burgers, pizza, and games year-round in a lively atmosphere. Tripadvisor praises the variety of "fresh local cuisine" served "at affordable prices and with generous portions," as well as the numerous TVs for the sports fans.

The Travelin Lobster in Bar Harbor, Maine
Now, let's head up to Bar Harbor and visit the family-owned-and-operated Travelin Lobster. The seasonal counter-serve stand specializes in preparing fresh seafood and speciality dishes using locally sourced ingredients. It's first come first serve, and the lines can get pretty long during peak tourism season. The owners advise that you show up early, but rest assured, the wait is 150% worth it.
