Grocery shopping can be monotonous sometimes, but it's certainly necessary.  My son, as a Gen X living on his own, has been surprised by the difference in certain grocery stores.

Some stores have great produce, while others are known for their fresh meats. Some have high prices, while others have better deals.  Once your eyes are open to this, it makes you think twice about overpaying for your food options, especially when shopping for brand-name items.

The nation's favorite grocery store is hands down Trader Joe's.  While Trader Joe's, Costco, and Wegman's are America's favorite stores, many didn't score so well.

In Massachusetts, two stores made the national top 10 of the most overpriced supermarkets in America.  Let that sink in for a minute.

Foodie's Market South Boston is the 2nd worst in the nation for prices, with DeLuca's Market at #10 on the list of high-priced markets in the entire country.

Ouch.

If you're going to have high prices, at least have high quality.  People don't want to have to overpay for food that's not fresh.

DeLuca's Market has been in the same location on Charles Street since 1905.  The store is a quintessential neighborhood market with some different products and is now run by Joseph DeLuca's daughters.  Unfortunately, the reviews are not favorable.
