According to Climbing Kilimanjaro, Denali in Alaska stands at an impressive 20,310 feet tall. In fact, the website states that the top 10 tallest mountains are all in the northernmost U.S. state.
So how do New Hampshire's tallest mountains stack up?
How High Is Mount Jefferson in New Hampshire?
Coming in at the third tallest mountain in the Granite State is Mount Jefferson. Summitpost.org says that it stands at 5,712 feet and is one of the hardest to climb in the winter.
According to AllTrails.com, you can take a nearly 9-mile (round trip) hike, or over six hours, for some great views.
But be warned. The hiking website says that while it's a "popular" hike, it's also a "challenging" one.
When should you go on this hike up Mount Jefferson? AllTrails.com recommends March through November.
How high is Mount Adams in New Hampshire?
The second tallest mountain in New Hampshire is Mount Adams. 4000footers.com states that this one stands at 5,744 feet tall and is considered a "difficult hike."
Apparently, hiking up Mount Adams via the Air Line Trail is not for the faint of heart.
AllTrails.com says 7.8-mile (round trip) hike should "only be attempted by experienced adventurers." Though, you will get gorgeous views if you climb it.
When should you go on this hike up Mount Adams? AllTrails.com recommends anytime as it's open year-round.
How high is Mount Washington in New Hampshire?
The No. 1 tallest mountain, and likely one everyone in the Granite State knows, is Mount Washington.
New Hampshire Magazine says that this iconic mountain stands at 6,288 feet tall, at its highest peak.
The magazine also says that you can see Maine, Vermont, New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Canada from the summit if it's a clear day. Not a bad view.
There are many different hikes you can take up Mount Washington, too.
According to Ilovenorthconway.com, The Jewell Trail, which starts at the Cog Railway Station and is about 5 miles, is the easiest hike up the mountain.
