Sugarland truly became superstars in 2009. The year yielded them platinum status for Love on the Inside; Grammy Awards for Best Country Song and Best Country Performance; and, finally, their first Christmas recording, Gold and Green, which featured new holiday-themed originals as well as more traditional fare. The duo's fourth studio album, The Incredible Machine arrived in 2010. Propelled by the Top 20 pop hit "Stuck Like Glue," the album quickly went platinum. Several tours followed, as did Nettles' marriage and pregnancy in 2012. In 2013, with the band on hiatus, Bush released the solo single "Love or Money." Nettles also released a single that same year, and followed up with her own solo album, That Girl, early in 2014. The band is releasing their latest album, Still the Same in 2018.
The best music is about connection, that place where words and music allow an artist's reality to fire real emotion in listeners. And it's just that connection that has been at the heart of Frankie Ballard's rise as an artist. Nowhere has that been more evident than in Ballard's breakthrough #1 hit, "Helluva Life." Fans are owning every line as they sing it back in concert and use social media to share their own stories of good times and bad, and the way romance puts a shine on all of it. "Helluva Life" is the opener from Sunshine & Whiskey, an album that announces Ballard as one of the genre's most nuanced singers and writers, someone whose long road history and wide musical taste add substance to his obvious surface appeal. He first hit the public spotlight with two Top 30 singles, "Tell Me You Get Lonely" and "A Buncha Girls," appearing on the Grand Ole Opry and playing packed arenas opening for Kenny Chesney and on major tours with Taylor Swift and longtime idol Bob Seger. Capturing the essence of his energetic stage shows, Sunshine & Whiskey represents the perfect re-emergence for a singer whose journey reflects all of life’s ups and downs.
For rising star Lindsay Ell, her debut album on Stoney Creek Records has been a long time coming ... but you can’t rush personal discovery. Sent on a mission to unleash the vibrant, soul-bearing country artist long predicted by fans and critics alike, Ell’s journey is now complete – and she calls the result simply, The Project. Comprised of 12 gripping, heart-on-her-sleeve tracks and produced by Sugarland’s Kristian Bush, The Project is the musical calling card Ell’s been working toward her whole life – from her childhood in Calgary, Alberta; through her time opening shows for blues legend Buddy Guy; and even with attention-grabbing country singles “Trippin’ On Us” and “By the Way.”
