Justin Bieber made a surprise appearance at a bar in Angola, Indiana on Saturday (Sept. 4) night and delighted onlookers with a performance on the drums with the house band.

EW (courtesy of WANE) reports that Bieber was spotted at a bar called The Venue in Angola, and was instantly recognized by patrons in attendance. Whispers of the 21-year-old teen heartthrob in attendance spread on social media, and was even posted by the bar's Facebook page.

Bieber apparently took to the stage where he joined the band and engaged in some drumming for the lucky attendees. Video of his performance was captured by fans and posted online.

“He just looked like a normal kid in the bar, except for the hat and hoodie,” band member Heidi Herber told news channel WANE. “We had no idea [he was going to be there], in fact, he was one of the first people in bar.”

It was unclear why Bieber was in the Angola area.

The Canadian-singer is riding high these days with the successful release of his latest single, "What Do You Mean?" The single, which was released on Aug. 28, set a Spotify record with over 21 million plays during its first five days of release. "What Do You Mean?" is the first single off his untitled fourth studio album.
