Let The Maine Tourist Signs Begin
As a new Maine resident, but a long-time visitor, I recognize the Old Port best in all its summer touristy glory. The patio chairs and tables stowed, sandwich board signs say, "come in to warm up!" and native Mainers shuffle along with their hoods pulled over their head, knowing where they're going without having to look up. Such is winter in Portland.
Today I came across an indicator that tourist season is hot on the heels of our upcoming heat wave. The classic "Mainah speech lesson" sign.
I guess I could take note as a tourist-turned resident. Part of being a Mainer is complaining about dem tourists, ayuh?
