If you've got a massive sweet tooth, you know you need a go-to pastry shop within 100 yards at all times. If you find yourself in Portland, Maine, and a craving hits, these four bakeries will make sure that craving doesn't go unattended.

1. Standard Baking

Yelp.com/PJ L.

I love love love this bakery. Sweet treats and breads are both amazing. Their brownies are gooey perfection. Aside from flying to France, their croissants are the best you can get.

2. Portland Patisserie & Grand Café

Fancy. French. Fun. Centrally located just a block up Market in the heart of Old Port, PPGC's a thoughtfully designed Parisian respite from the surrounding rows of bars and eateries. Gorgeous mini macaroons, delicate French pastries, and delicious French roast coffee complement the compact, but well designed interior decor.

- Yelp.com Reviewer Cliff H.

3. Urban Sugar*

What could be better than fresh, warm doughnuts made beautifully and thoughtfully?  Eating them AND taking in one of Portland's most scenic vistas! That is possible when that beautiful truck parks on our beloved Eastern Prom! I can't wait!

- Yelp.com Reviewer Annemarie H.

*Urban Sugar isn't always in Portland, so check their Facebook page and website for up to date locations.

4. Two Fat Cats

Brion S.
Yelp.com/Brion S.

Walking into Two Fat Cats, you immediately smell butter, butter, butter, and more butter being lovingly baked into amazing thick pie crusts. The blueberry pie was so good.

- Yelp.com Reviewer Stephanie H.
