Maine is Home to One of the Luckiest Convenience Stores in the Nation

A small convenience store in Lebanon, Maine, has had lottery winners totaling more than a billion dollars.

Hometown Gas & Grill in Lebanon is starting to believe the hype that maybe, just maybe they ARE a lucky store. They had another Mega Millions jackpot winner!

What makes this Lebanon, Maine convenience store so lucky?

Who knows! Not sure if it's in the water, or what. But what makes Hometown Gas catch your attention is that it's the size of the jackpots that have been won at this tiny little store.

According to a press release from the Maine Lottery, this lucky store sold a ticket in January 2023 for the $1.35 billion jackpot. One of the largest jackpots in Mega Millions history.

We don't know who the winner is (smart) because the winnings were picked up by a limited liability company. They took the one-time lump sum for a total of $723,546,114... before taxes.

Then just about 18 months later, a man from Rochester, New Hampshire snagged $1 million!

Good for these guys! For that BILLION dollar winning ticket, they made a cool $50,000! Not bad for a little convenience store in Lebanon, Maine.

The January 2023 billion-dollar jackpot made international news. The owner Fred Cotreau told News Center Maine last year,

I was getting messages from friends in Australia [telling me] that I made the television in Australia, so it was certainly a worldwide event. I was surprised that the lottery machine got busier after we sold the ticket.
