Maine is big on the outdoors. Hiking, skiing, and fishing are some of the things that Mainers love to do (or get out of staters to move). However, not everyone in Maine considers themselves the outdoorsy type.

The Axe Pit is located in South Portland, Maine, and is the only place that you can go axe throwing in the state. Why is The Axe Pit a fun place to go? Well, it is great for anyone that is competitive or just wants to try throwing an axe, they offer live music and events regularly and also has a bar with some of your favorite local craft beers.

A Paint Night

Looking to be more creative, well Muse Paintbar in Portland is a fun way to enjoy a night out. You can order beverages and snacks at the bar located inside the studio to enjoy while you paint. It is recommended that you look at their calendars in advance to choose which painting you would like to do on a night that fits best with your schedule.

There are so many breweries located throughout Maine. If you are a beer enthusiast,  you may love going on a brewery tour. Looking for something a little different? Maine Escape Games located in South Portland offers five escape rooms, and one of their rooms called "Southport School for Wizards" will have you thinking that you are at Hogwarts. The Escape Room in Portland offers four escape rooms for all levels that change throughout the year. Again, these are only a couple of the escape rooms that you are able to find in the state.

Interested in a relaxing day at a museum? Luckily for you, there are some amazing museums in Maine. Two museums located in Portland are perfect for all ages. The Portland Museum of Art is a great way to spend your day. There, you will find contemporary, European, and American art, as well as artwork from Maine artists. The Portland Museum of Art also offers free tickets on Fridays, movie screenings, and curator speakers. The International Cryptozoology Museum is something a little more unique. If you are up for the unusual, the International Cryptozoology Museum's mission is to educate and share evidence of hidden or unknown animals (like Bigfoot).

No matter what, there is always something that you can find for yourself or someone that doesn't enjoy the outdoors. One does not have to be a fisher or hiker to have some fun in Maine.
