This is going to be a great night! Hope you can come and support the Special Olympics!

20 years ago the Special Olympics worked with the Portland Pirates. They are bringing back the relay race! The Special Olympics has a wonderful group of athletes who are so excited to be partnered with a 'celebrity' for a relay race between periods 2 and 3 during the Tuesday, December 10th game that starts at 7 pm.

Get your discounted tickets today and part of the proceeds will go to Special Olympics Maine - everyone wins!

Tuesday Dec 10th at 7:00PM at Cross Insurance Arena Maine Mariners will take on the Adirondack Thunder for a great hockey game. Local celebrities include:

  • Lori Voornas from the Q
  • Jeff Peterson from WGME
  • JR from WPOR
  • The Captain from WBLM
  • Blake from Coast 93.1 and more!.

Each of these 'celebrities' (I use the term loosely) will be paired with a Special Olympics athlete! It's going to be epic, as soon as I get some skates.

Plus, there will be a 50/50 that night to raise money for Special Olympics Maine. A Special Olympic athlete will be singing the National Anthem too! The goal is to raise awareness about Special Olympics, to raise money from the 50/50 and the discounted tickets and to showcase the abilities of some of the athletes - but most importantly, it's to have fun!
