Summer 2023 in New England will be forever remembered for one thing -- never really fully happening.

After we hit Memorial Day Weekend and rounded the corner into June, we were hopeful for a fun, hot, sunny summer for a few months. What we ended up with was a few weeks of brutal humidity with a ton of rain, then off-and-on humidity for the rest of the season with pretty much nothing but gloomy skies and steady rain.

Interestingly enough, we kicked off both September and October with a week of picture-perfect summer-like weather -- highs in the 70s and even low 80s, dry, bright shining sun, it was both a welcome break from the craptastic summer we actually got, and also a harsh reminder that we got screwed this year.

Even though it's finally felt like full-on fall for the last couple of weeks in New England -- the cool, crisp air, the scent of leaves, pumpkins (carved or not) decorating the front steps of many homes -- all of that is about to change.

Maine and New Hampshire are about to get hit with those summer-like temperatures again this week, with highs hitting the low-70s for a few consecutive days.

According to a recent post by NEWS CENTER MAINE meteorologist Keith Carson on X, "it ain't over yet."

Based on the model that Keith posted on his X page, areas of Southern Maine as well as Eastern and Central New Hampshire could pop temperatures in the 70s beginning Thursday.

Going further, according to WGME, the temperatures in Portland, Maine, and surrounding areas for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday this week look like they'll be hitting the lower 70s and sporting plenty of sun, as well. Meanwhile, in New Hampshire, WMUR is reporting that temps on those same days could pop in the mid-70s.

Our friends in Massachusetts will also see temperatures in the 70s as well, based on the posted weather map.

Nothing says weather in New England like a beach or lake day just days before November hits.
