Maine Police Grow Their Beards To Raise Money For Children
Police officers in Maine and New Hampshire are growing out their beards to raise money for children’s advocacy groups according to an article in the Portland Press Herald. Women officers are painting their nails blue for the same cause.
The Press Herald reports police officers in southern Maine and New Hampshire have been letting their beards grow through the month of October to support centers that provide services for abused children in York County and Rockingham County in New Hampshire.
Maine Police Departments participating in the fundraiser include Berwick, Buxton, Eliot, Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, North Berwick, South Berwick, Old Orchard, Qgunquit and Saco.
Last year the campaign raised $18,000 for the Rockingham County Center in New Hampshire.
