Feel Good Story: Here’s What My Kind Neighbor Did in the Maine Snow Storm
If you needed a sign that people still really appreciate acts of kindness, consider this your sign to do something nice today for somebody. As we all know, Maine got almost half a foot of snow Sunday night (well if you live near Portland that is). Honestly this is s probably the first time this winter that we've had to really worry about shoveling or cleaning the top of our cars off of snow before we head into work. Welcome back winter.
Something really magical happened as I got home from work today. My entire back deck and walkway was cleared off and a path to my door was shoveled out which I knew I didn't have time to do at 5 a.m. I texted my downstairs neighbor and asked her if she had cleared off my deck as I wanted to thank her properly if she did. Sure enough, the sweet girl had shoveled for me without me asking her to do it and I know this sounds so small and silly, but that's the coolest thing somebody has done for me in a while. It was so genuine. I just sat in my car looking at the text messages with her and all I could think about was how grateful I was to have the beautiful people in my life that I do.
This is one of those things that remind you there's life outside of your phone if you take a minute to look up every once in a while. So many negative things have been happening in the world lately, so I think it's important to also share the positive moments left. Something as simple as my downstairs neighbor shoveling off my stairs for me out of the kindness in her heart was a little reminder to me the importance of kindness in the world. Consider this your sign to do something nice for somebody today.. pass it on!
