Miley Cyrus Washes an Old Life Away in Stunning ‘Slide Away’ Video
Miley Cyrus released the highly-anticipated music video for her song "Slide Away."
On Friday (September 6), the 26-year-old singer unveiled the stunning visuals for the emotional breakup single, which many believe is about her soon-to-be ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth. The video is a somber illustration of a life Cyrus no long wants and captures how ready she is to move on from her relationship.
In it, the pop star is seen floating around in a pool and walking around in a mansion looking disconnected with the world as a wild Hollywood party happens around her. She sings, "I want my house in the hills/ Don’t want the whiskey and pills/ I don’t give up easily/ But I don’t think I’m down," which seemingly allude to the rumors surrounding the actor's alleged partying habits and one of the reasons why their marriage ended.
Though she doesn’t mention Hemsworth by name, the lyrics imply the track is about him. “Move on, we’re not seventeen/ I’m not who I used to be/ You say that everything changed/ You’re right, we’re grown now,” she sings.
The couple met and fell in love on the set of The Last Song over 10 years ago.
There are also tons of other Easter eggs and references to their relationship in the video. At one point, a 10 of hearts card can be seen at the bottom of the pool, which probably represents their decade-long love story.
