More Mainers are without power right now than there were at the height of the legendary Maine Ice Storm of '98. Here's the latest from CMP and Emera Maine.

More than 500,000 customers across Maine are without power, way up from the 340,000 people who lost connectivity during the famous ice storm.

CMP is telling news sources that their first and primary concern is to clear roadways of downed trees and power lines, and that work to restore power won't really start in earnest until after crews are able to move around, which could be sometime very late tonight or probably tomorrow.

Once crews are able to move around safely, reconnecting customers can begin.
