Hope you love seeing all those flimsy walkway signs for whoever or whatever - because as of August 1st, they get to stay there longer.

According to the Portland Press Herald, a new state law started August 1st that lets

temporary signs to be placed in the public right of way for 12 weeks a year, twice as long as previous limits. That means Mainers may be stuck seeing campaign signs for nearly a quarter of the year.

Why would this even happen? Well, good intentions. It was meant to help farmers advertise farmer's markets - not to help out politicians and referendums.

Oh there are already signs up, especially along the ever popular Franklin Street in Portland.
