Well, this has turned into a mess for Bonnie Kimball in Canaan, NH.

She was just being nice and let a high school student at Mascoma Valley Regional High School, in Canann New Hampshire, take 8 dollars worth of lunch and told him to pay her the next day.

Which he did.

But that same afternoon, according to NECN, Bonnie was fired by Cafe Services, Inc., back in March because she let the kid take some items that added up to 8 bucks.

According to WMTW, Bonnie showed CNN the termination letter which in part said:

On March 28, a District Manager was on-site and witnessed a student coming through the line with multiple food items that you did not charge him for. This in strict violation of our Cash Handling Procedures, the Schools Charge Policy and Federal Regulation governing free meals. Your final has been processed and disbursed to you.

Cafe Services defended their position by saying basically, that they aren't going to deny a kid lunch because they don't have money. There's some sort of standard lunch they give out. But this wasn't a 'lunch', these were ala carte items and according to Kimball, that amounted to theft.

Since this story broke, Cafe Services offered her job back to her (shocker). Bonnie said no. Can't say I blame her. I'd be a tad bitter too.

She stands by her decision and says she would do it all over again.
