New Hampshire Ranked as One of the Least Stressed States in the Country
With all that's happening in the world and the obstacles life throws our way, it's safe to say that most of us are stressed in one way or another.
But what states are more anxious than others?
WalletHub conducted a survey in which they used a comprehensive 41-category system to rank states based on how stressed they are, with #1 being the most stressed and #50 the least.
The study is very thorough, and the site explained that "our data set ranges from average hours worked per week to the personal bankruptcy rate to the share of adults getting adequate sleep."
The 2022 results concluded that Louisiana, Nevada, and New Mexico are the three most stressed states. New Hampshire, on the other hand, not only ranked significantly lower (thankfully), but almost at the very bottom.
It turns out that New Hampshire is the 46th most stressed state in the country, and that only folks in Wisconsin, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Utah are less stressed than us.
A closer look at WalletHub's chart shows that in addition to our overall rating of #46, we also rank #39 in regard to work-related stress, #43 for money-related stress, and #36 for family and health-related stresses. Not bad, right?
Everyone's situation is different, so you may be scratching your head from these statistics. But at the end of the day, the results make sense.
For example, according to the US Census, the median household income for New HAmpshire was almost $78,000 in 2020. This is over $10k above the national average of $67,521. Similarly, the census shows that 7.6% of those in New Hampshire under 65 years of age have no health insurance, which is also below the national average of 8.6%.
Regarding our neighboring states, the study concluded that Massachusetts is the 43rd least stressed state, while Maine ranked a little ways below at #31. Vermont is surprisingly high, sitting up at #19.
