Nick Jonas Joins ‘The Voice’ Season 18 As New Coach
Nick Jonas is officially headed to The Voice next season!
The youngest Jonas Brothers member will join returning coaches Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend for season 18 of the NBC singing competition. The exciting news was revealed during an upcoming episode of Ellen, which airs on Tuesday (October 8), after Shelton sent host Ellen DeGeneres a special message for Jonas.
"Nick Jonas! How you doin' buddy?" the country star said before making the announcement. "I heard you're going to be a new coach on The Voice and I wanted to say congratulations, I guess. But second of all, voice some concerns that I have. I have to look through the rules because this is my TV show. I'm not sure that you're even old enough to be a coach on The Voice, but I'm certain that you're going to get your butt kicked buddy. Welcome."
It turns out, the pop star is actually the youngest coach the show has ever had. Meanwhile, Clarkson and Legend both offered to team up with Jonas so they can take down Shelton together.
"Well, the cat's out of the bag. I am so excited about this," Jonas said. "I will be joining as one of the new coaches of The Voice... just to be clear, Blake I'm going to kick your a-- and I think Kelly's point about joining an alliance might make sense. John, I love you but we got to have a side conversation."
"As weird as it is, Blake, that I'm so young. It's exciting to now have a 20-year career," he added.
The 27-year-old later tweeted a video expressing how happy he was to be joining the NBC hit.
"Me thinking about joining @kellyclarkson, @johnlegend, and @blakeshelton on season 18 of @nbcthevoice," he wrote in another post. "So excited to finally get to share this with you all."
As previously reported, Adam Levine announced he was leaving the show after 16 seasons in May. Gwen Stefani stepped in for the fall season, but Jonas will sit in the coveted red spinning chair in Spring 2020.
The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8PM on NBC.
