Only One Building Still Stands Today in This 1910 Photo of Old Orchard Beach

For over a century, Old Orchard Beach has been a tourist destination for people all across the country and Canada. Many would take the train from Montreal down through Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine to arrive right in downtown Old Orchard.

The downtown area near the beach and pier has changed a lot over the years. Several fires have destroyed buildings while others have just come down to progress.

This photo posted to the Facebook group Portland Maine Encyclopedia of the 1960's, 70's & 80's shows what Old Orchard Beach looked like around 1910.

About the only think recognizable are the railroad tracks which still remain in the same place. Almost everything else you see here is gone today except for one building. Can you find it by looking at the same area from Google Streetview in 2016?

Look at the top of the hill and to the left. See that steeple rising above the buildings in both pictures? As far as we can tell, that church is the only building still standing today.
