A sign of the changing habits of consumers, the Pizza Hut in Windham has closed, one of hundreds of dine-in Pizza Hut restaurants on the chopping block as the company changes its focus.

Many people stopping into the Windham Pizza Hut on New Year's Day shared a photo of a sign on the door that read "This location is now closed, we apologize for any inconvenience, thank you for your patronage." The Windham location has also been removed from Pizza Hut's website and app.

Yum! Brands, which owns Pizza Hut, announced in August that they would be closing as many as 500 dine-in restaurants in a move to shift to delivery and carryout. Many Maine Pizza Huts had recently started to offer delivery, including Windham, but the store likely was one of the 500 under performing locations and got the axe.

According to Pizza Hut's website, the remaining dine-in locations in Maine are in Westbrook, Saco, Oxford, Lewiston, Farmington, Sanford, Rockland, Waterville, Skowhegan, Bangor, Ellsworth, Newport, Houlton and Presque Isle.
