Portland Ice Cream Shop Celebrating May 4th With Star Wars-Inspired Cones
If you're not in on the Star Wars lingo, "may the force be with you" is a rather important phrase amongst the sci-fi universe. Star Wars fans have claimed May 4th as their holiday, because "May the 4th be with you" just fits too well not to gratuitously celebrate the film franchise. One Portland ice cream shop plans to get in on the fun tomorrow afternoon by serving up some Star Wars-inspired cones.
Shared on Instagram by Lib's Dairy Treats, if plastic lightsabers and movie marathons aren't enough for you to fill your May 4th, they plan to serve some speciality cones on Tuesday in the likeness of popular characters Princess Leia and Chewbacca. They may not be spitting images of the characters but they're adorable in their own way. And likely very tasty.
You may remember that Lib's made headlines throughout Maine in 2019 when they served up sour pickle soft serve. It became such a novelty hit that they whipped up a second batch using exclusively Amato's famous pickles. After the strange summer of 2020, keep your eye on what other creative concoctions may be coming from Lib's as the weather warms up.
If you're interested in going intergalactic with your ice cream tomorrow, Lib's Dairy Treats is located at 32 Auburn Street in Portland is open on Tuesday from 2pm to 8pm. And perhaps Lib's should consider extending The Force through the weekend...
