Bad news pizza lovers. The famous Portland Pie Co. will no longer be opening a location in Lewiston.

The former Lincoln Street fire department substation in Lewiston is being renovated as a mixed use building with apartments on the top floor and commercial space below. The plan was for a new Portland Pie Co. to occupy the downstairs space, but the Sun Journal is reporting that those plans have fallen through.

The developer of the building planned for the redesign to have a roll up door as a throwback to the days when the building as a fire station. However that design didn't seem to agree with the Portland Pie Co. franchisee so the plans to use the space for the pizza place have been abandoned.

Now the developer is talking with another restaurant that may be interested in the design and hope to have them take the space. The restaurant hasn't been named though, so we'll just have to keep our eye out on the old fire station on Lincoln Street to see what pops up.
