Portland’s Pizza Villa Reopens After Month Long Renovation

After closing its doors for a renovation and new management, Pizza Villa has reopened to continue its over 50 years of serving up pizza in Portland.

In business since 1965 near the corner of Congress and St. John Streets, Pizza Villa closed on February 25 to begin a renovation that was helped in part by Maine Medical Center who recently bought the building. The new owners are Sam Minervino and his brother who own a handful of restaurants and bars in the area including Samuel’s Bar & Grill on Forest Avenue.

Some things have changed with the renovations and some things haven't. The bar has been renovated and will now accept credit and debit cards after always having been cash only.

What won't change is the tradition of only one size pizza. 10 inches, and it's a classic.

Now that Maine Medical Center owns the building they may put some of their offices on the floors above Pizza Villa. That'll come in handy as Maine Med employees are big fans of Pizza Villa as it's only a short walk down the street. With new offices, it will be even closer for some.

Some new coats of paint, a newer bar area and a general polish and it's ready to go. The same 'ole Pizza Villa Portlanders have loved since 1965.
