Remembering the Hair Bands
Think back to the '80s and '90s. Were you a hair band fan? Where are they now? Here's a little trip down memory lane.
"WARRANT" Who can forget "Cherry Pie" the extremely suggestive song and video from the band lead by frontman Jani Lane. The video came out in '89 and Lane married Bobbi Brown (pictured above) in '90 after meeting on the set of the video. They had a daughter and divorced in '93. Bobbie was well known for her record wins in the spokesmodel category on Ed McMahon's "Star Search." So where is Warrant today? The band broke up years ago and Jani Lane was found dead in a hotel room in 2011. He suffered from alcoholism. Jani was only 47. Here's the infamous "Cherry Pie" video which really only makes me hungry.
"Cinderella"
"Cinderella" Their long curly locks, tuxedo tail jackets, spandex and bandanas had me at hello. They spent well over ten years on the road from '83-'97 with hits like "Don't Know What You've Got 'til it's Gone" and "Gypsy Road." They sold 15 million records world wide and gave Glam Rock it's name. It was a time for male rockers when looking like a woman made you even more bad ass. They had nothing on "Poison" but I guarantee that there are a lot of songs you forgot they sang. So where is Cinderella now? Lead singer Tom Keifer went out on his own. He currently has an album out. Here's Cinderella's classic "Don't Know What You Got 'til it's Gone."
"Slaughter"
"Slaughter" I had such an embarrassing crush on lead singer Mark Slaughter. Their hits "Fly to the Angels," "Up All Night," and "Spend My Life" had me rewinding my tapes over and over. They reached maximum velocity in 1990 after forming in 1988. Unfortunately, guitarist Tim Kelly passed away in 1998 at the age of 35 so not all the original members area with the band but they still tour to this day. Here is their classic "Fly to the Angels."
I kind of miss the hair band age! What was your favorite hair band?
