A federal investigation continues involving a highway collision that claimed the lives of seven motorcyclists earlier this summer.

According to Boston.com, Volodymyr Zhukovskyy was intoxicated on drugs and said he was reaching for a drink on the passenger side of his 2016 Dodge pickup truck. The type of beverage was not immediately available.

The vehicle crossed the highway’s yellow center line and into the path of a group of motorcycle riders, who were members of Marine JarHeads MC, a club in New England that includes Marines and their spouses.

Zhukovskyy, of West Springfield, tested positive after the crash for an unspecified drug that said he was not able to operate safely, federal regulators found, according to the article.

The report does not specify the drug beyond saying it was a narcotic or amphetamine.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration report provides the most detailed account to date. It's also the first accusation of Zhukovskyy’s alleged intoxication.
