Road Trip Through Windham, Maine, to See 17 Festive Holiday Light Displays
There's an iconic scene in one of the most beloved Christmas movies of all-time, "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation", when Clark Griswold shows off his holiday light display to his family. There's some hilarity that leads up to the big reveal, but it's a memorable moment in a movie filled with them. People are proud of their light displays and if you want to catch a handful of great displays in one city, there's a road trip of sorts you can take through Windham, Maine to do just that.
Shared on Facebook by Windham Parks & Recreation, the city held a 2022 holiday decorating contest that involved both businesses and individual residences. The best of the best were whittled down and before the holiday season wraps up, you can journey along and see all of them. Obviously, the best time to view any of these displays is after dark.
To help keep everyone on track and on the right road, an interactive map has been released so you can identify which houses were part of the contest and where you can find them in all of their festive holiday cheer. Some of the homes and businesses are more extravagantly decorated than others, but all will bring a smile to your face.
The holiday displays on the interactive map will like stay up and lit throughout the week of Christmas (and likely for a few days beyond). If you're itching for a road trip with a dash of holiday cheer, look no further.
