Rockland Homeowner Ordered by Judge to Clean Up Illegal Junkyard
According to Village Soup and reporter Steve Betts, a Maine judge ruled in November that Lucy Curtis is illegally operating a junkyard on her Rockland property.
The city has been battling this homeowner for almost 10 years, the newspaper reported.
Village Soup states that Curtis has 30 days to clean up the Old County Road property and if it's not completed within that time, the city will do the work for her and bill her. Then the city can put a lien on the property to get back what it cost to clean it up, the article added.
As you can see, a picture is certainly worth a thousand words.
Rockland filed the complaint almost a year ago last December, according to the Village Soup, and the city even offered to help clean it up at one point.
Interestingly, a Google Street View from 2019 shows it wasn't as bad as it currently is.
Curtis has owned the property since 1978 and Rockland has been sending her violations since 2013.
Will she clean it up in time or will the city have to step in? Guess time will tell.
