Scarborough Police Department Wants You to ‘Adopt’ a Fire Hydrant This Winter
We've all seen our local police and fire departments shoveling the snow away from the fire hydrants after a snow storm. Obviously it's important to have the hydrants clear of any debris in case of an emergency.
In Scarborough alone there are 891 hydrants that need to be maintained. That means a lot of man power and hours go in to clearing the snow from the hydrants. Each hydrant that a citizen clears speeds up the work for our firefighters.
The Scarborough Police Department recently took to Facebook asking residents to help this season and 'adopt' a neighborhood hydrant.
You could probably even name your newly adopted hydrant.
