The documentary film about the life of Fred Rogers, the man who made and impact on so many children's life's on Mister. Rogers Neighborhood, will have a free showing in Portland.

Won't You Be My Neighbor? is a behind the scenes look at the man who was always glad to have a friend "just like you." You'd be hard pressed to find anyone over the age of 15 who didn't grow up watching Mister Rogers Neighborhood. When I was a kid it came on after Sesame Street and before The Electric Company and I would still watch it now and again well into my teens because the show was just that good. He made us all feel special just the way we are.

Now you can see the award winning film on the big screen this week for free. Maine Public will present a showing at The State Theater in Portland on Thursday, March 21. Tickets are free, but you do need to register to get them.

In addition to the film, there will be a musician playing songs from the show, prizes for the best cardigan sweater, themed beverages and commemorative Mister Rogers patches.
