If you need more proof that the waters off our coast and, in fact, right off the beach are active, look no further than this video.

This is just crazy, Tamzen Tortolani McKenzie captured the stunning video while warning swimmers to stay out of the water.

The shark swam back and forth along the shore of Race Point Beach for nearly 10 minutes, according to masslive.com.

I guess sharks can’t hear screaming.

McKenzie from Shrewsbury is no stranger to the Cape and has seen sharks in the area before, usually when there are seals about, or scientists are tagging them but never this close to the shoreline, the article mentioned.

There is nothing more ominous than a single fin just cruising through the water.  I am glad of her quick thinking to video the event so we can all sit back in amazement.

Just before taking the video, kids were swimming in that area, according to Masslive.com.

It’s been a busy shark sighting season this year. Three beaches at the Cape were temporarily closed on August 28 after shark sightings.  There have been a few sightings by fisherman of the beautiful whale shark way off the coast this year.

In early August some boaters off Nantucket saw a Great White chowing down on a whale carcass.  But those are not the only dangers in the water this year.

According to masslive.com, multiple beaches were temporarily closed because a Portuguese man-o-war washed up on shore around Martha’s Vineyard.  Jellyfish look so pretty in the water, but they can hit you with a nasty sting.

All in all, its been a pretty exciting, active shark summer in New England.
